Saidi Choreography Series
Building on the fundamentals of Saidi dance, this Saidi Choreography Series will guide you through the creation and mastery of an authentic, energetic Saidi routine. This series is designed for dancers who have a solid grasp of the basics and are ready to take their skills to the next level by learning intricate choreography that captures the essence of this dynamic Egyptian folkloric dance.
In this series, you will:
- Learn a complete Saidi choreography: Incorporating traditional footwork, folkloric movements, and the vibrant personality of Saidi dance.
- Explore expression and storytelling: Dive into the playful, joyful, and sometimes powerful nature of Saidi, focusing on performance quality and interpretation.
- Connect with Saidi rhythms: Develop a deeper understanding of the music that drives the choreography, enhancing your ability to stay in sync with the beat and energy.
By the end of the series, you’ll have a complete Saidi choreography ready to perform with confidence. Additionally, an optional performance opportunity will be offered for those who wish to showcase their skills at a local event or student recital (Treasures of the Caravan and/or Raqs Alegria). This is a wonderful chance to bring your Saidi routine to life on stage and gain performance experience!
Prerequisites: Completion of "Discovering Saidi: Foundations of Egyptian Folklore Movement" or equivalent experience. Students must also be actively taking regular belly dance classes to ensure they are maintaining their technique and fitness for this choreography series.
